Hashimi
The name Hashimi comes from hashi (橋) which means bridge in Japanese. Hashimi forms a bridge between, the early Edo period and the modern era, the two banks of the river, the old and the new.
The ponytail holder is rich in its simplicity; while the geometrical shape and the moving part jointly create its dynamic complexity. The copper surface on outside is made smooth and polished, while the inside is roughly grated to keep the hair tight.
The form is inspired by the women's hairstyle of the early Edo period, but in a modern outlook that makes this jewelry a good metaphor for Japan, keeping ancient traditions, while living in the real future.
